Durham all-rounder Farhaan Behardien, who was due to make his debut against Derbyshire Falcons after completing a 14-day quarantine period, is delighted to finally be at the club.
“It has been challenging, quarantining”, he said”
“In South Africa we’ve had one of the hardest lockdowns but fortunately I was able to split my 14 days between a couple of houses and I got through it.
“Fortunately, one of my really good friends has a full-on gym at the back of his house and I had the chance to hit some balls as well.
Behardien was due to make this Durham debut on Wednesday evening against Derbyshire Falcons, but heavy rain from 7pm, but a stop to the South African officially getting underway in a Durham shirt.
“I had a hit with some of the coaches yesterday and it felt quite good, but this does give me an extra day of prep. I think there’s a warm-up game tomorrow and then I’ll come down early on Friday and hit some balls so I’m looking forward to Friday’s game with hopefully better weather.
“In 2016 I played for Leicestershire Foxes and I played at Chester-le-Street against Durham I’ve played with the national team against England so I’ve had some exposure of English conditions and hopefully that will keep me in good stead.
“It’s always been a dream of mine to test my skills in English conditions and at this stage of my career impart some of my knowledge to the younger guys.”
