Fifty not out continues this Thursday

With LV=County Championship opener at Emirates Durham as Durham take on Nottinghamshire CCC on 12th April 2012. 50 Not Out! will also be hosting its summer re-launch on the first day of the game.

The project, run in partnership with Northumbrian Water and Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust, brings together organisations from across the region to offer health and well-being information to the over fifties, as well as the opportunity to take part in a choice of physical activities with people of a similar age and fitness level.

Participants will be given the opportunity to take part in a Nordic walk and cycling session around the Riverside area, along with other physical activities. There will also be several of the programmes exhibitors there on the day to give more information about the programme itself

Durham County Cricket Foundation’s “Learning Beyond the Boundary” education staff will also host an drop-in session on digital photography and e-mail.

After the first session, participant Norma Close said: “I thoroughly enjoyed the Nordic walk. I’m a keen walker, but this is the first time I’ve tried Nordic walking and it really does work on the whole body.

“The I.T session was also interesting and I’m very keen to learn more about the internet. I’m really looking forward to the next session, it’s also a great way to meet new people.”

Durham County Cricket Foundation Manager Richard Hopper said: “It’s great to see so many people getting involved in our Fifty Not Out programme. With the valuable support of Northumbrian Water we have been able to bring together people from many areas and many backgrounds, something we are really proud of. The sessions cater for people of all different levels, so we’re very keen to get more people involved.”

The Fifty Not Out programme runs once a month throughout the summer so there are plenty of opportunities for people to get involved.

The next Fifty Not Out session takes place at 1.00pm on Thursday April 12 2012, when Durham take on Nottinghamshire in the LV= County Championship. Sessions are free but as this is a cricket day attendants must book in advance by contacting the Emirates Durham Box Office on (0844) 499 4466.
