Five Durham players earn Hundred deals for 2023

Five Durham players will feature in the 2023 edition of The Hundred after the ECB today confirmed the players which are to be retained across their women’s and men’s squads.

Ben Stokes, Brydon Carse and Matthew Potts have all been retained with the Northern Superchargers based in Leeds while Mark Wood has been named as the London Spirit’s ECB Central Contracted player. Nathan Sowter has also been retained by the Oval Invincibles.

The Hundred returns in August, mixing fast-paced, world-class cricket with family friendly music and entertainment off the pitch as they look to build on an impressive past 2-years.

The Northern Superchargers will get underway on Thursday 3 August taking on Birmingham Phoenix at Headingley.

England Men and Durham bowler Matthew Potts said: “I’m really excited to be playing for Northern Superchargers again this summer.

“The atmosphere is always brilliant at The Hundred, and I know it’s a competition that’s helped the game reach new fans and that’s a great thing to be a part of. I like the way the Superchargers are formulating this year and hope it can develop my game further.”

Over 14.1 million people tuned in to watch The Hundred action in 2022 and games will again be broadcast live on Sky Sports and BBC broadcast and digital channels throughout the competition.

Teams will now turn their attention to planning which new players they want to snap up to strengthen their line-ups this year.

The men’s squads will fill their remaining slots at The Hundred Draft on 30 March, where they will take turns to pick from the hundreds of domestic and international cricketers expected to sign up in search of earning a place in the competition.

London Spirit will have the first pick followed by Welsh Fire and Manchester Originals. Welsh Fire will be the busiest side during The Draft, with seven slots to fill, including three overseas spots.
