Graham Clark happy with contribution in Foxes victory

Durham opening batsman Graham Clark is “happy” to have helped Durham, in their eight wicket victory over Leicestershire Foxes at Emirates Riverside.

Clark scored an unbeaten 59 in an opening stand off 118 with D’Arcy Short, he said:  “It’s a funny old game T20. Sometimes you’re handing out those kind of defeats and on other days you’re on the receiving end.

“It’s nice to bounce back in that manner and get a good win to get momentum moving forward.

“I didn’t want to get out because I had the best seat in the house watching D’Arcy going about his business. He’s an awesome player.”

Durham were set 143 to win from 20 overs with D’Arcy short scoring 70 from 36 balls.

Clark added: “When the required rate is only seven runs an over and he’s there with a strike rate of over 200 it makes my job a lot easier. I was allowed to go about my business quietly while he was there smacking it.

“The amount of boundaries we scored is credit to D’Arcy he scored 90% of those in the powerplay. I’ve had a poor year, so it was nice to join him and hit a few out of the middle and get a score on the board. I’m happy to get runs on the board, but wherever I’m required to bat for the team or if I’m required at all I’m happy as long as we’re winning games.”
