Ross Greenwell is full of confidence ahead of Durham’s appearance at 2nd XI T20 Finals Day tomorrow (Thursday).
The 19-year-old is set to take his spot at the top of the order as Durham go up against Essex for the right to compete in the final later the same day.
Lancashire or Gloucestershire will be the opponents for whoever progresses – and Greenwell is adamant Neil Killeen’s side can hold their own in the showpiece day of the Second XI calendar.
“We have played some excellent cricket in the T20 format this year. We will be underdogs but that doesn’t bother us in the slightest. We know we are one of the best teams in the country and we are looking forward to going down to Arundul and proving that.
“The qualifying rounds were difficult for us at times, we made a couple of changes most games because of injuries and First XI call ups. Everybody who has come into the team has been brilliant.
“This is perfectly illustrated by the day we had to win one of our double header at Leicestershire to qualify. We lost badly in the morning but came back brilliantly and secured a vital win in the afternoon”.
And Greenwell was full of praise for coach Killeen who has guided the team to the showpiece event.
“Neil has been excellent. His experience is second to none he is so good at analysing situations. Even as an opener I learn so much because he tells me exactly what the bowler won’t want”.
Durham will compete in the 2nd semi final of the day which is due to start at approximately 1:45pm
