Exactly 130 years to the day, 23 May 1882, Durham County Cricket Club was formed in The Three Tuns Hotel, Durham. The first match was played on 12 June as Durham CCC defeated Northumberland by four wickets at Ashbrooke, Sunderland.
Durham CCC’s reputation as a leading first class county was cemented when the side won the County Championship in two consecutive seasons, in 2008 and 2009, just 17 years into their first class history.
Durham CCC are currently taking on Somerset CCC in the LV= County Championship at Taunton, where seamer Jamie Harrison made his debut, becoming the 121st player to represent Durham in first class cricket.
We are delighted to announce the sale of a 130 year commemorative polo shirt. The limited edition navy blue polo shirt will have the dates 1882 – 2012 stitched below the club crest. The polo shirt is available to order online here.
