Durham had secured a lead of 79 when they began their second innings, though the opening partnership was only worth 10 by the time Yadvinder Singh had Jonathan Bushnell out leg before wicket.

Miles had Harry Crawshaw edging behind the next over, Smith taking a great diving catch as Durham were 12 for two. The partnership between Callum Gaffney and Liam Trevaskis was worth 50 when Miles and Smith combined again to remove Trevaskis.
