Helen Fenby named in England Spin Bowling Group

Durham’s Helen Fenby has been named in the 2019/20 Spin Bowling Group intake following the England Women’s Academy programme confirmation on Friday.

Fenby, who has been involved with Durham Cricket’s girls’ and boys’ set-up since being 10-years-old, is named in a squad of six.

The spin bowling group caters for players who are currently seen as having the potential to be part of the England Women Academy in the future.

20-year-old Fenby is no stranger to the England set-up, having been involved with the development squad for their trip to South Africa last year, with the leg-spinner picking up three wickets in the third game of the competition from her 25 overs bowled, concluding with an economy rate of 2.72.

Head Coach of the England Women’s Academy, John Stanworth, said: “We look forward to working closely with this group across the next 12 months.

“The opportunity to develop their skills alongside other talented players on a regular basis is an important part of their development.

“It is an exciting group of players and we look forward to seeing them progress through the different experiences they will be exposed to both here and abroad.”

Helen was appointed captain of the Durham Cricket women’s team earlier this year, leading the side to promotion into Division 1 of the T20 league, picking up 13 wickets throughout the summer campaign.
