John Windows looks ahead to Durham Senior League Protech Finals Day for Academy

Durham Cricket Academy Director John Windows is excited for the test the boy’s Academy will face when they go up against Chester le Street in Sunday’s Durham Senior League Protech Finals day at Ropery Lane.

The boys’ Academy have had a successful run in reaching 2023 Finals Day with wins over Horden, South Shields and Castle Eden – but will face a tough test against North East Premier League highflyers Chester le Street this weekend.

“Chester le Street are a very good side, so we know we are in for a tough game on Sunday, but the lads have performed very well throughout this tournament so will be really looking forward to Sunday”, said Windows.

“We have put in three very good performances with the both the bat and ball in reaching the finals, so hopefully the lads can replicate that at Chester le Street.”

Durham Academy face Chester le Street in the first semi-final at 11am with Burnmoor taking on Sunderland in the second semi-final at 2:30pm, with the final being played early evening.

Windows added: “We really enjoy playing in this competition, the history of the Durham Senior League is something we are proud of as a club so to get the chance to represent the county is special.

“The Academy had many good days playing in the Senior League, so it is a privilege to continue to play in it, providing a good opportunity for the lads.

“The Durham Senior League has so much history to it and is still well respected in the region, so it is important that the players understand the history of the competition and what they are playing for come Sunday.”
