Jones receives Scotland call

There could be Durham representation on both sides of this Sunday’s One-Day International between Scotland & England in Edinburgh.

Senior Academy & Second XI batsman Michael Jones has been called-up to the Scotland squad for the one-off fixture at The Grange Club.

The 20-year-old, who made 55 in the 2nd XI Trophy match against Lancashire on Monday, made his ODI debut earlier in the year & has five caps to his name.

Jones featured in the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier, where Scotland fell agonisingly short of qualifying for the main tournament on D/L.

If selected from the 15-man squad he could go up against Mark Wood, who is in the England squad for both this fixture & the following five-match series against Australia.

Ben Stokes is not involved after picking up an injury before the second Test against Pakistan. He is undergoing a rehab programme with the aim of being fit for the latter part of the Australia series, including the fourth Royal London ODI at Emirates Riverside.
