Judgement Day for Dynamos

After defeating Leicestershire by 5 wickets last night, the Durham Dynamos are still in the hunt for a Friends Life t20 quarter finals appearance and will play the biggest match of their short format season this week-end at Emirates Durham ICG. The match is also a big personal milestone for wicket-keeper and batsman Phil Mustard who will play his 100th Twenty20 match for Durham.

Their judgement day is this Sunday when they face the Derbyshire Falcons in their final round-robin match which they must win to be a chance of qualifying.

To finish in the top two an upset at Trent Bridge tonight would be useful as bottom placed Yorkshire take on Nottinghamshire who are 0.25 points ahead of Durham in second position.  There is also still a chance Durham can make the quarter finals if they finish in 3rd place on the Northern table with the top two third placed teams in the whole competition making it through to the quarter final stage.

The Dynamos have won their last three matches in the Friends Life t20, with one of those a win against their opponents Derbyshire who they defeated at Chesterfield on Sunday by 4 wickets with Ben Stokes and Gordon Muchall steering Durham to victory.

Stokes has shown what a superb t20 player he is in the past three matches with back-to-back-to-back Man of the Match performances to get Durham back in the competition.  He has scored 159 runs in his last three innings off a total of just 105 balls and is showing the form that saw him selected in the England T20 squad.

Durham fans are encouraged to come out in support of their local team on Sunday afternoon and do their bit to get the side over the line.  Fans who supported last night and purchased a ticket for the Leicestershire match can get their ticket for the Derbyshire game for just £5 Adults and £1 children.  Fans simply need to contact the box office for more info on this great offer on (0844) 4994466 or show their ticket from Thursday night when purchasing at the gate on Sunday.
