Junior cricket teams are being given the chance to be part of the ICC Cricket World Cup Trophy Tour, which will visit Emirates Riverside on Monday 8 April.
In celebration of the visit, Durham Cricket Board have organised a Junior Skills Competition for under-13 teams in a bid to give local clubs and teams an opportunity to experience the buzz of the Cricket World Cup.
Teams that register will challenge their batting, bowling and catching skills to gain points and compete to get the highest team total of the day, while having a once in-a-lifetime opportunity to have their photo taken with the Trophy.
Cricket Clubs can register their teams for the Skills Competition now.
Teams should be made up of 10 players aged 13 or under and clubs are allowed to enter more than one team. Teams will be able to complete the skills challenges in an hour and will have a choice of three slots: 1.30pm – 2.30pm, 2.30pm – 3.30pm or 3.30pm – 4.30pm.
The event will take place on Monday 8 April from 1.30pm until 4.30pm, but teams are not expected to commit to the entire afternoon – they will only be asked to be present for their competition slot.
While the competition requires registration in advance, the off-field activities and photo opportunities with the ICC Cricket World Cup Trophy are open to the public and we welcome parents, relatives, siblings and anyone wishing to get involved to join on the day.
