Katherine Fraser part of Scotland training squad for Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier preparation

Durham’s Katherine Fraser will travel to Desert Springs with Scotland on Monday 24 February for a warm-weather training camp in preparation for the 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier.

The 16-player squad will spend six days in Spain, and will be supported by Head Coach Craig Wallace, Joe Kinghorn-Gray (Assistant Coach) and Amy Caswell (Physio).

The travelling squad members will take part in a specialised programme which will involve several intensive training sessions, including two days of centre-wicket practice.

Craig Wallace’s side are familiar with Desert Springs, having held a similar training camp last year ahead of their successful Women’s T20 World Cup qualifying campaign in Abu Dhabi.

Craig Wallace, Scotland Women’s Head Coach, said: “I’m really looking forward to getting everyone together as a group again, ahead of what’s an exciting time for us with the World Cup Qualifier coming up in spring.

“We don’t get time together as a group too often, so the opportunity to spend some time together, and continue to work hard with some high-quality practice outside on the grass, will be really valuable.

“Whilst we haven’t played a lot of 50-over cricket, I think the team we have are really suited to it, and it’s about working out how we can bring out their strengths in the longer format, and the brand of cricket we want to play.

“There will be a real emphasis on playing spin on this trip, as we know how big a role that has to play in the subcontinent, and we want to ensure we’re as best equipped to deal with those conditions as we possibly can.

“The squad we’re taking is a really good balance of players that have been playing international cricket for a few years, and some new faces from the group that done well with the Under 19s.

“I’m looking forward to having them as part of the squad, and learning from the more experienced players who will show them how good they have to be to get into the group.”
