Katherine Fraser to captain Scotland at Women’s European Cricket Championship in Spain

The Scotland squad has been selected for the forthcoming Women’s European Cricket Championship in Cartama, Spain, with Durham’s Katherine Fraser captaining the side.

The tour party includes three members of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup squad, as well as seven members of the Scotland Women’s U19 team that in August qualified for the ICC Women’s U19 World Cup.

Scotland Women’s Head Coach Craig Wallace will be assisted by U19 Head Coach Kari Carswell during the tournament. The Scotland XI will face an England XI, Ireland XI, Italy and Netherlands in the Premier Division, from 15-20 December.

Steve Snell, Head of Performance, said: “For this tournament we’ve picked a squad which encapsulates a mix between providing opportunities for younger players qualified for the U19s with some game time ahead of the forthcoming ICC U19 World Cup and offering development to some of our national squad players across a wide spectrum of experience.

“We think it’s a great chance for these players to practice their ability to exhibit skills under pressure, and there’s definitely some transferable skills that we’ll be utilising in Spain that we can then take into 2025’s ICC World Cup qualifying campaign.”
