Durham face Sussex in a two day friendly which started this morning (Mon 28 March) and with the emphasis on getting as many players time out in the middle as possible the sides agreed to allowing fluid teams rather than each side being required to name an eleven.
Michael Di Venuto (18) opened the batting with Mark Stoneman who top scored with 64. The other notable contribution was from Ian Blackwell who added 47 to the total while Will Smith, Gordon Muchall and Callum Thorp were the other players to reach double figures. Durham were all out for 207 just before tea.
As it had been agreed that Durham would bat on day one we batted on after being bowled out. We took the score on to 319 by the close, only losing one more wicket ( Breese for 12 ). Kyle Coetzer ended the day 43* and Muchall 56*
