Lewis names 13 for 2017 opener

Durham head coach Jon Lewis has named a squad of 13 for tomorrow’s Specsavers County Championship clash with Nottinghamshire.

Captain Paul Collingwood returns to the squad after missing the win over Durham MCCU while overseas signing Stephen Cook is included after arriving in the country on Sunday.

Chris Rushworth could also be set for a return to the XI as Lewis ponders some healthy selection problems following last week’s thumping victory.

Keaton Jennings is also set to return to the side for the first time since a highly successful winter, which included a debut Test hundred in India.

Nottinghamshire, relegated from Division One, are coming off the back of a big win over Leicestershire inside three days.

International stars Alex Hales & James Pattinson are expected to play but Stuart Broad has been denied permission to play by the ECB.

Emirates Riverside was a fortress in four-day cricket last year & Durham have a good record at home against Notts, winning three & drawing one of the last four.

Entry for Day One of the fixture is £5 for non-members with juniors admitted free of charge as a thanks to supporters during the off-season.

Members are also being encouraged to bring a friend for free with their guest pass included in membership packs.
