Lewis names 13 for Northants

Jon Lewis has announced a 13-man squad to take on Northamptonshire in the latest round of Specsavers County Championship matches at Emirates Riverside (11am start).

Michael Richardson returns to the fold & could make his return from a hamstring injury sustained in the Royal London One-Day Cup match against Lancashire Lightning.

The 30-year-old hit a purple patch in this year’s 50-over competition, hitting his maiden List A century alongside four more half-centuries in the North Group.

His last Championship outing came in the away draw with Gloucestershire, where he also passed fifty in the first innings.

There are also set to be changes among the bowling unit as Lewis rotates his squad following back-to-back matches on the road.

Barry McCarthy is in line for his first appearance of the season while Gavin Main & Josh Coughlin could also play.

An appearance for Coughlin would be a Championship debut after he made his first-class debut against Sri Lanka ‘A’ last summer, while Main’s debut against Nottinghamshire in 2014 is his only Durham appearance to date, where he took 3/72 at Trent Bridge.

Left-arm spinner George Harding may also play after making his first-class bow at Swansea last week, taking five wickets.

James Weighell (shin) & Chris Rushworth (back) miss out after two tough away assignments while Graham Onions continues to be assessed after missing the Glamorgan match.

Head coach Lewis has spoken about the importance of returning to winning ways this week after two successive away defeats.

The last time the two sides met was back in September 2014. Durham won by an innings & 219 runs but is quite rightly remembered by Rushworth’s sensational 15-wicket match haul, including nine in one innings.

Twitter updates will be available throughout the course of the match via the club’s official channel, while commentary is available online via BBC Sport.

On Saturday (Day Two) of the fixture, Members are advised that the Members’ Lounge facility will be relocated to the Castle View suite due to a private function taking place in the Riverside suite.
