21-year-old Ryan Davies has been added to a 14-man squad for Durham’s Royal London One-Day Cup encounter against Worcestershire at South Northumberland.
Davies was released by Somerset at the 2017 season but has impressed for Durham 2nd XI and scored an excellent 155 against Northamptonshire twos this week.
The wicket-keeper batsman, who played for England u19’s, has signed a contract that will keep him at Emirates Riverside until the end of 2019 season.
Josh Coughlin and Gareth Harte have also been named in Lewis’ squad with Paul Collingwood, Barry McCarthy, James Weighell, Brydon Carse and Matthew Potts all missing through injury.
Durham will be eager to grab their first win of the 2018 RL50 campaign after losing a close encounter mid-week against Derbyshire following two disappointing performances against Yorkshire and Lancashire.
Lewis’ side have an excellent record at South Northumberland and have won all three fixtures played at the Gosforth-based outground.
