Lizzie Scott returns to Durham Cricket on two-year deal

Durham Cricket are thrilled to announce North East seamer Lizzie Scott has signed a two-year deal with the Club.

A product of the Northumberland and Durham pathways, Scott returns to Chester le Street having been part of the Durham Women’s academy.

Having made her professional debut in 2022, Scott has been a regular for the Northern Diamonds – which included an impressive 1-10 from 5 overs in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy final win at Lord’s.

Born in Hexham, the right-arm seamer is closing in on 50 all-format wickets – which includes a best of 5-24.

The 20-year-old was part of the England squad for the inaugural Under 19s T20 World Cup in South Africa, playing twice, as England lost to India in the final.

A new ball bowler with pace and the ability to swing the ball, Scott claimed 19 wickets last term in both regional competitions – and earned a call up to the Oval Invincible squad for the Hundred.

On joining Durham, Lizzie Scott said: “It’s hard to put into words how excited I am to be ‘coming home’ to the North East to play for Durham.

“Having grown up playing in the Northumberland and Durham pathways, it’s so exciting to have a Tier 1 team in the region, giving local girls the opportunity to watch professional women’s cricket and hopefully be inspired to become a professional cricket player themselves.

“Dani Hazell has coached me since I was 15 so I’m also thrilled that she will be the Head Coach at Durham.

“Leaving the Northern Diamonds will be incredibly sad as I have thoroughly enjoyed my time there – working alongside some great coaches and playing with some amazing people.

“2025 promises to be an exciting time for women’s cricket, and I can’t wait to get started at Durham.”

Director of Cricket, Marcus North said: “We are extremely proud to welcome a home-grown player in Lizzie Scott back to the club.

“She has performed well since her professional debut in 2022 earning her first professional contract and being drafted in the Hundred.  Lizzie knows what we are about as a club, having been through our player pathway and Academy.

“Lizzie has a huge ceiling, and we look forward to nurturing her talent and supporting her journey as a professional cricketer over the coming years”.
