Our partner the Lord’s Taverners has launched a national campaign to raise awareness of the impact of isolation and loneliness on disadvantaged and disabled young people.
The campaign called isol8 will also raise vital funds to support the work and impact of the charity’s programmes to help combat isolation and loneliness in the future.
Unfortunately, disabled young people are twice as likely to experience feelings of loneliness as their non-disabled peers.
The Lord’s Taverners’ programmes help tackle this by providing new opportunities for their disabled and disadvantaged participants to meet new friends, socially engage and develop a wide range of personal skills.
Since the outbreak of COVID-19, these initiatives have halted, denying many vulnerable participants the opportunity to regularly interact with friends and play sport.
The charity is now concerned of the increased risk of feelings of isolation and loneliness amongst their participants.
The Lord’s Taverners is asking people to get involved by sharing Kian’s story on social media, pledging to donate £8 and nominating up to 8 people to do the same.
