Ben McKinney scored an unbeaten century in just 55 balls in a dominant 10-wicket win over Benwell Hill. Burnopfield were put into the field first by the visitors but three wickets for Matthew Oswell and a pair for Harry Lumsden reduced The Hill to 31 for five. A 143-run partnership between Peter Halliday and Phillip Bell helped the visitors to a total of 203.
McKinney and John Oswell saw off their target inside just 18 overs as the hosts raced to victory. McKinney reached his ton in the eighteenth over, striking 10 fours and four sixes in a standout knock. Oswell also finished unbeaten, making 91* from 53 with 11 fours and four sixes.
Paul Coughlin took six wickets for Hetton Lyons in their seven-wicket victory over Lanchester at Ashley Park. After a 38-run partnership for the opening wicket, Sagar Udeshi took three of the opening four wickets before Coughlin claimed five further victims as Lanchester were dismissed for 95 in 24 overs.
Hetton Lyons managed to chase their target within 14 overs; Coughlin top scored for the visitors as he made an unbeaten 39 from 26 balls with two fours and three sixes.
Mitchell Killeen made 45 in Burnmoor’s 97-run win at Ashington. Batting at three, Killeen helped set up a platform for the visitors with four fours and a six in his innings of 61 deliveries. Stuart Poynter, Josh Coughlin and Waqas Maqsood then helped accelerate Burnmoor’s innings, finishing 321/8.
Jack Jessop and Jack McCarthy both made scores of 80 plus as they helped Ashington to 147 for one before Ryan Pringle took six wickets and Maqsood three as Burnmoor secured a comfortable victory.
George Drissell and George Fishwick both starred with the bat in Sunderland’s seven wicket win over Castle Eden. Sunderland bowled out the hosts for 186 with a pair of wickets for Brett Hutchinson, Micky Allan, Jack Johnson and Joseph Stuart as well as a wicket for Drissell.
Opening the batting together, Fishwick and Drissell put on 140 for the first wicket with Drissell making 81 from 69 with six fours and sixes apiece. Robert Potts made a quick-fire 31 before falling as Fishwick finished unbeaten on 63 from 69 with seven fours and three sixes.
Sebastian Hughes-Piñán claimed one wicket in Chester Le Street’s 10-run win over Tynedale. Andrew Smith top scored for CLS with 69 as the hosts made 243/7 in their 45 overs. Ash Thorpe and Josh Wilson took two wickets each as Hughes-Piñán helped control the run rate with figures of 1-26 in nine overs as Chester Le Street managed rto record a narrow victory.
Robbie Bowman and Stanley McAlindon both made runs in Tynemouth’s 51-run victory at Newcastle. Batting at three, Bowman held together the top order as he scored 42 from 67 with four fours and a six in his innings. He put on 30 runs with McAlindon for the fifth wicket partnership, taking them to 102. McAlindon went on to top score with a 74-ball innings of 52, featuring six fours as Tynemouth scored 219.
Barry Stewart and Martin Pollard shared seven wickets for Tynemouth with McAlindon, Matthew Brown and Joshua Moors all taking one apiece. Asher Hart top scored with 36 for the hosts as they fell short by 51.
Oliver Gibson took one wicket for Shotley Bridge in their eight-wicket win over Sacriston. Gibson bowled top scorer Louis Anderson for 36 in a nine over spell of 1-19 after his brother Joe Gibson took the opening three wickets. Kieran Millburn ended up with four wickets as Sacriston were bowled out for 107.
Shotley Bridge made it to 108/2 within 16 overs as Daniel Anderson made 60 from 45.
Jonathan Bushnell made an unbeaten half-century for Hartlepool in their defeat to Richmondshire. Shafiqullah Ghafari led the way for Richmondshire with 108 and was supported by innings of 69 and 62 from Michael Layfield and Gary Pratt as the visitors made 332/6 in 50 overs, with Bushnell claiming one wicket.
Batting at three, Bushnell top scored for the hosts with an unbeaten 58 from 81 deliveries. His innings featured seven fours and a six but he struggled for support as Hartlepool ended up on 172/8, succumbing to a 160-run defeat.
