He will feature in the side, which will be captained by former Yorkshire CCC overseas player Jacques Rudolph, along with the likes of Roelof van de Merwe, Loots Bosman and Rusty Theron.
David Miller said, “I’ve really enjoyed my time here at Durham – I was really welcomed into the squad and am really impressed by the ambition of the club. If another opportunity came along to play here again I would jump at the chance. I’m excited about joining up with South Africa A but I’ll definitely be following the lads progress when I’m gone to make sure they rack up some more wins!”
Durham CCC Head Coach Geoff Cook said, “We were anticipating that David would be available to us for the whole of our Friends Life t20 campaign but obviously you can’t foresee international call-ups. While it’s disappointing that David has to leave us, this is a great opportunity for him with South Africa A and we all wish him the best of luck, he’s been a great addition to the dressing room.
”With the strength of the squad that we currently have we won’t be looking for a replacement as there is a possibility that David could return for the final three group match stages so in the meantime this will give an opportunity for someone else in the squad to make their mark in the competition.”
