“First and foremost it’s good to get off to a good start in this competition, we had them under pressure and then they had a good a partnership and posted a reasonable score, I mean it was a good wicket out there but it was nice to see us home.
“We got off to a good start with Stokesy and Kyle putting on a good partnership, and we were ahead of the run rate so it was just a case of us going out and batting. We did lose some wickets, which wasn’t ideal but we always knew that once the powerplay came in we could pick the rate up later on as long as we had the wickets in hand.
“My job was made a bit easier by the way Stokesy played, it was disappointing he got out the way he did but I thought he played a fantastic innings aswell.
“I’ve had three fifties in the Championship now and got out in some peculiar ways so to see it out until the end was quite important for me going forward this season.
“It’s our first one day outing and there are areas we want to improve on, we’ve haad a de-brief tonight and pin-pointed those areas so hopefully we can move forward and have a good one day season as it’s been a while since we have had real success in this format.”
