North East Warriors – Open Under-18 Trials

The North East Warriors are inviting trial applications for the Under-18 side ahead of the 2022 season.

The Warriors, merged team between Durham Cricket and Northumberland Cricket Board, are looking for players who are in year 13 and down interested in trailing for the high-performance sides in October.

The North East Warriors played their first full season this summer as a merged entity between Durham and Northumberland and in 13 games, the U18 team claimed 6 wins.

In Group 1 of ECB County One Day Cup, the team ended the season with three victories in six games, recording wins against Lancashire, Yorkshire and Cheshire.

The North East Warriors work closely with the Northern Diamonds – a side that just last week played in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy final, finishing as runner-up for a second consecutive year.

The highlight of the season for the Warriors was the inclusion of seven players in the Northern Diamonds Academy. Maddie Atkinson, Ellie Tiffin, Harriet Robson, Lizzie Scott, Ciara Boaden, Mary Butler and Emily Naylor were all involved this summer.

Now as we look ahead to 2022, the coaching team of the North East Warriors are looking for female cricketers, who would like to trial for the U18 squad.

Trials

The Trials will take place on Friday 8th, Friday 15th and Friday 22nd October from 5.00pm until 9.00pm at Emirates Riverside and players will attend two out of the three sessions. The sessions will primarily focus on core cricket skills and fitness.

Players will be notified which sessions they have been allocated to on Monday, 4th October.

To be eligible, participants must be in year 13 and down. If players have turned 18 currently, they will be able to trial also.

Deadline to register is Sunday, 3rd October.
