North says new women’s structure will best support talent in the North East

Durham’s Director of Cricket Marcus North said that joining forces with “close friends” Northumberland Cricket Board “makes complete sense to create a pathway and a structure that’s going to best support young girls and women in our region”.

Durham and Northumberland announced a merger of their under-17 county girls’ and Senior Women’s sides, which, alongside the Girls’ Academy based at Emirates Riverside, will create a high performance pathway for talented female cricketers in the North East.

Former England cricketer and Hundred coach Danielle Hazell will head up the structure as Women’s Lead High Performance Coach.
