Durham Cricket are delighted to announce wicket keeper-batter Ollie Robinson has signed a new three-year contract with the Club.
After two stellar seasons Robinson has extended his stay at Seat Unique Riverside and will now remain a Durham player until at least the end of the 2027 season.
Since initially joining on loan from Kent in 2022, Robinson has scored over 2,500 runs for Durham across first-class and T20 formats as well as providing impressive displays with the gloves.
He has amassed 1,802 first-class runs since his arrival in the North East and is currently the club’s third highest County Championship run scorer in that period.
After scoring three centuries in his debut red ball campaign, the 25-year-old made a pair of hundreds in 2024 with a career best 198 coming against Essex in Chelmsford.
After an exciting 2023 season where he also accumulated 380 runs in the Vitality Blast, Robinson earned three England Lions caps, making scores of 80 and 85 against India A in the Lions’ tour of India.
On the back of a solid 2024 campaign, Robinson received his maiden England international call up, being part of the Brendon McCullum’s squad for their Test series in New Zealand.
Robinson said: “It is great to sign an extension with Durham and I am really excited about the future.
“I took a bit of a calculated gamble moving away from home when I first moved to Durham a couple of seasons ago, but I had an idea of the plans and the environment I was joining and to date it’s worked out well.
“I wanted more stability and the opportunity to develop my skills further and that is exactly what I got here, in this team. It’s been great that I’ve been able to show some of what I can do and as a result it was nice to get some international recognition recently.
“I’m hoping the next few years bring some success as a team and we win some silverware along the way. We’ve got a well put together squad with lots of talent and I can’t wait to see us progress.
“It was an easy decision to extend and I’m looking forward to the next few years here, enjoying my cricket as an adopted northerner!
Director of Cricket, Marcus North said: “We are extremely pleased that Ollie is continuing his journey with Durham Cricket by committing a further three-years with us.
“Since his arrival to the Club, he has been instrumental to our success on the field and building a great environment off it.
“His performances since joining have shown that he is one of the country’s best wicket-keeper batters, which was acknowledged his recent England Men’s Test call up for the NZ tour.
“He is a key member of our squad who displays outstanding commitment to Durham.
“We’re looking forward to supporting Ollies growth as a player and watching his performances in a Durham and England shirt during the next few years.”
