After such tough second day with the bat the Lions fought back with the ball as they looked to give themselves an opportunity to win the game. After collapsing to 155 all out England had to stirke early and make deep inroads into the Centtral Zone batting quickly and effeciently.
Graham Onions claimed figures of 14-6-40-3 as all 5 of Englands bowlers shared the wickets. Restricting Central Zone to 180 left England Lions chasing 296 to win in just over a day and a half. Denly and Carberry progressed to 30 before Denly was lbw to Gupta for 15.
England Lions captain Michael Yardy (57 not out) joined Michael Carberry (71 not out) at the crease as they looked to help England progress towards there winning target. The pair gradually worked England along at just over 3 an over as they patiently went about reaching their target. The pair reached stumps on day 3 with a partnership of 116 in 36.5overs as they worked England Lions into a great position to push on and win on day 4.
With 9 second inning wickets remaining and only 150 runs to get, If the weather holds England are in a perfect position to begin their Duleep Trophy campaign with a win.
