Over 2,000 attend Day One of the season

Over 2,000 spectators watched the first day of the 2017 first-class season at Emirates Riverside.

With admission prices reduced to £5 non-members and free juniors, Durham supporters turned out in numbers to watch Day One of the Specsavers County Championship match against Nottinghamshire.

Junior supporters pitted themselves against the batting simulator, a bowling machine with the aim of scoring as many runs as possible inside an over.

The club were also delighted to welcome members of the junior age group squads ahead of the new season.

The players at various junior levels have been through a trial process and will now represent the county throughout the 2017 season.

They were invited onto the field during the lunch break for a group photo and many could be seen playing cricket on the outfield and on the concourses during play.
