Player of the Month – July 2019

Chris Rushworth

The veteran quick took ten wickets in Durham’s Specsavers County Championship match against Worcestershire at Emirates Riverside. In the first innings Rushworth took 4/28 from 15 overs before picking up six in the second innings to claim 6/39 from 24.4 overs.

D’Arcy Short

D’Arcy has been a welcome addition to Durham so far for their T20 Blast Campaign. He scored 46 from 40 balls in the season opener against Northants Steelbacks and 77 from 36 balls against Leicestershire Foxes at the Fischer County Ground smashing five fours and six sixes. Short was also in the runs against the Foxes at Emirates Riverside hitting a 36 ball 70, hitting twelve fours and one six as Durham chased down 143 to win by eight wickets.

Scott Steel

20-year-old Scott Steel has shown his dominance throughout the Blast campaign this month, breaking records in Durham’s game against Leicestershire Foxes at the Fischer County Ground. The right-hand batsman’s fifty was Durham’s equal fastest T20 50, Steel’s T20 career best score and supported D’Arcy Short in Durham’s best opening stand of 133.

Matthew Potts

Quick bowler Matthew Potts has had an enjoyable month with the ball, picking up a hat-trick in Durham’s fixture against Leicestershire Foxes at the Fischer County Ground. Potts dismissed Dieter Klein for 2, before trapping Callum Parkinson and Chris Wright LBW in three balls. Potts spell against Northants Steelbacks was also very economical, bowling three overs picking up two wickets for eleven runs.
