Poynter added to 13-man squad for Warwickshire

Durham head coach Jon Lewis has named a 13-man squad for tomorrow’s Royal London One-Day Cup match against Warwickshire at South Northumberland CC.

Ireland wicketkeeper Stuart Poynter is included as we look to bounce back from a defeat at Northants and re-ignite quarter-final hopes.

It starts a big week for Durham’s limited-overs hopes, with two must-win One-Day matches either side of the crucial NatWest T20 Blast match against the Derbyshire Falcons on Friday.

Poynter made 68 in the on-going 2nd XI game at Leicestershire and recently returned from a four-game One-Day International stint against Afghanistan.

He replaces Phil Mustard in the squad after the long-serving ‘keeper moved to Gloucestershire on loan but with two wicketkeepers in the squad, no decision has been made over who will play behind the stumps.

Paul Collingwood also comes back into the squad as captain following a split webbing injury suffered in the Specsavers County Championship match against Lancashire.

The 40-year-old has taken over the limited-overs captaincy until the end of the season, though Mark Stoneman will remain available for selection during that time.

Preparations for the game have been ongoing at Roseworth Terrace and the squad trained at the ground this morning.

The weather is set fair for the day and tickets are available on the gate, priced at £15 for adults and £5 for juniors.

The game is scheduled to start at midday due to a late Warwickshire arrival following their game with Northants this afternoon.
