Preview: Durham vs Worcestershire and Devon

Durham Women kick off their Vitality County T20 campaign with two away games to Worcestershire and Devon this Sunday, 9 June.

Captain Helen Fenby expects her side to perform well in the shorter format and will look to claim two wins this weekend for a convincing start in the competition.

She said: “We’ll be strong in this league – hopefully middle to top table. The squad we have is a really strong squad and going into the T20s, we have so many good players that we can bring in and utilise.

“We have some big hitters in our team and they really excel in the T20 format.”

Durham Women finished fourth in the competition last year with five wins and three defeats and Fenby hopes to repeat, if not better the performance.

The side have already played Worcestershire and Devon in the One-Day Cup, winning against Worcestershire but losing to Devon in the opening game, and are familiar with the opposition.

Fenby said: “We know they’ve got good players that excel in T20 format but with our side, they’re two games we should definitely win.”

Durham play Worcestershire from 10.30am and Devon from 1.30pm tomorrow, 9 June, at Old Hill Cricket Club.
