Pringle impressive in Seconds’ successive wins

All-rounder Ryan Pringle made an impressive contribution with the bat in both innings as Durham’s 2nd XI recorded two T20 wins over a strong Worcestershire side at Blackfinch New Road.

The 26-year-old smashed 42 off 19 balls in a successful run Game 1 run chase before helping Durham post 181/8 in the second match by top-scoring with 65.

Needing 164 to win the first match, Pringle’s knock laid the foundations which was finished off by James Weighell, who returned to action as a batsman-only in the two matches.

Weighell, who’s also impressed in First XI matches with the bat this season, smoked 63 off 31 including no fewer than five towering sixes.

He was backed up by Scott Steel, who made 45 at just over a run-a-ball, as the pair put on an unbroken 88 to win with more than three overs remaining.

In Game Two, Durham batted first & were indebted to Pringle’s knock in getting up to 181/8, with another solid contribution from Steel (36).

Against a side featuring the likes of Joe Clarke, Tom Fell & Daryl Mitchell, the hosts could only then reply with 148/9 in a highly impressive win for Neil Killeen’s men.

Clarke & Fell were both dismissed by Mark Adair inside the first four overs, with the former Warwickshire seamer the pick of the bowlers with 2/19.

George Harding added two wickets of his own as the Pears fell well short.

The two sides now go head-to-head in a 2nd XI Championship encounter starting today.
