With Durham currently holding the top of the table with three matches to play and Derbyshire fighting off relegation, the scene was set for another crucial LVCC match at Derby but it was the rain who took the honours on Day 1.
Just 32 overs were bowled for the day when the rain set in after lunch.
Earlier in the day Durham won the toss and sent the home side in at The County Ground in Derby.
Derbyshire got off to a steady start and Durham were unable to break through until the 12th over when Chris Rushworth struck to dismiss Slater for 13.
It was then Derbyshire’s session with Borrington and Madsen putting together a steady partnership which saw Derby 95-1 at the lunch break. Four runs were added in the one over that was played after lunch with Madsen 32no and Borrington 30no.
The forecast looks a bit better for tomorrow with play to resume at 10.30am.
