After a delayed start due to rain, and a loss of eight overs before play even began, it took just eight balls to claim the final wicket of Warwickshire’s first innings.
Ben Stokes took his fourth scalp of the innings, that of Miller (0) who replaced Boyd Rankin after he departed for international duty, when he edged the ball to Michael Di Venuto at second slip.
With the follow on enforced Durham stayed out in the middle, awaiting the hosts openers, but before the second innings could get underway the covers were brought on as rain started to fall.
Lunch was taken early at 12.45pm and with intermittent rain showers throughout the day play didn’t resume until 3.20pm.
Five balls were bowled before another rain shower halted play and an early tea was taken. Warwickshire’s second innings was able to continue at 4.45pm.
Ben Stokes completed Stephen Harmison’s over after the seamer returned to the pavilion during the warm up.
Callum Thorp claimed the valuable wicket of Chopra in his opening over, when Di Venuto took his second catch of the day, sending the batsmen back to the dressing room without scoring.
Di Venuto snatched a third catch, this time off Stokes, dismissing Westwood for 4, which saw Warwickshire slump to 23-2 in the ninth over and then go on to lose Yousaf first ball for a second time this match.
Warwickshire were 35-3 when bad light brought play to a halt at 5.45pm.
