Michael Richardson & Germany cruelly missed out on qualification for the ICC T20 World Cup Global qualifier after beating Norway & Jersey.
A big victory over Norway in the first match yesterday (Thursday 20 June) left them with an outside chance of qualification.
They required a big win over Jersey, the leaders of the ICC T20 World Cup Europe region final, to overtake the on net-run-rate.
Bowling first, it started excellently for the Germans before an unbroken 85-run stand for the sixth wicket set them 135 to win.
Needing to knock them off in around 14 overs, Richardson was sent out to open with Glamorgan all-rounder Craig Meschede. The Durham ‘keeper made 13 off ten balls before being bowled attempting a big hit over the leg side.
Meschede made a quickfire 40 but Germany achieved their target in 14.2 overs, just too late to ensure qualification.
? What an amazing finish to the @T20WorldCup Europe Final! ?
Beaten by Germany in the last game, @cricketinjersey were made to wait to find out if they’d still done enough to top the table…
