Richardson ton leads the way against Durham MCCU

Close, Day Two: Durham MCCU (32/0) trail Durham (350/3d; Richardson 115*, Stoneman 83, Jennings 54, Burnham 50*) by 318 runs.

Michael Richardson scored an unbeaten century as Durham’s top-order batsmen spent useful time at the crease on Day Two against Durham MCCU.

Day One of Durham’s three-day friendly with Durham MCCU fell foul of the weather after a day of constant rain at the Emirates Riverside.

Jon Lewis’ side were left frustrated spectators inside the home changing room as the rain fell almost relentlessly across the day.

There was a brief break in the clouds during the early afternoon and the ground staff made an attempt to clean up, but the rain returned almost immediately and the umpires called time on the day’s proceedings shortly after 3pm.

Lewis and his players hope for better weather and more play on Day Two of this three-day fixture as preparations conclude ahead of the weekend Championship opener against Somerset.
