Robbie Bowman scores 135 for Tynemouth with Jack Brassell, Sebastian Hughes-Piñán and Charlie Scorer all claiming a pair of wickets on North East Premier League duty.
After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Stanley McAlindon contributed 35 to Tynemouth’s opening stand of 69. This introduced Robbie Bowman to the crease alongside Ben Debnam, Bowman led the way for Tynemouth scoring 134 from 102 deliveries with 10 fours and sixes apiece.
Tynemouth declared on 302/7 after 53 overs but could not prevent Benwell Hill reaching their target after 54.1 overs. Yash Kothari led the Hill to victory as his unbeaten innings of 171 featured 19 fours and two sixes as the visitors recorded victory by four wickets.
Elsewhere, Jack Brassell took two wickets for Sunderland in their 111-run victory over Ashington. Christopher Youldon top scored with 85 for Sunderland, supported by 54 from Micky Allen, 44 from George Fishwick and 42 from Jack Johnson as they finished on 253 for five from 58 overs.
Sunderland had Ashington seven down for 112 with Micky Allan taking three. Namibian international Brassell claimed two of the final three wickets either side of Allan’s fourth. Brassell had Matthew Potts caught before he bowled Alex Storey first ball as Ashington were bowled out for 142.
There was a pair of wickets each for Sebastian Hughes-Piñán and Charlie Scorer as Castle Eden beat Chester Le Street by 22 runs. Hughes-Piñán claimed the first breakthrough on 85, bowling Jonathan Malkin for 47. The Spain International also bowled Nicholas Sampson-Barnes, ending with 2-44 from 15 overs as Castle Eden finished 210 for seven.
After a partnership of 109 for the third wicket, Scorer took the vital wicket of John Coxon for 53 before later taking the wicket of Matthew Robinson. James Thompson scored 59 and Hughes-Piñán made 20 but Bilawal Iqbal and Malkin both took four to have Chester Le Street bowled out for 188.
