Notts ended day two on 231-4 after dismissing Durham for 129 in their first innings of their LV= County Championship clash at Emirates Durham ICG
Ben Stokes and Callum Thorp put on 33 and 30 respectively to boost Durham’s first innings total to 129 after a first session collapse on day two of their LV= County Championship match against Nottinghamshire at Emirates Durham.
Ben Phillips was the pick of the visitors attack claiming 4-33 off 13 overs, with Andre Adams and Andrew Carter each claiming three wickets.
Graham Onions struck early in Notts second innings dismissing Neil Edwards (5) after he was caught by Mark Stoneman with the total at just 16.
Alex Hales and Michael Lumb put on 83, including a fifty for the former, who went on to become the first of Ian Blackwell’s victims when he was caught by Ben Stokes in the 28th over.
Samit Patel faced 21 deliveries to score his five runs before he was caught in the slips my Michael Di Venuto off Blackwell, with the Notts total at 118-3.
Michael Lumb went on to score his first century since 2010, which came off 159 deliveries and included 15 fours. Their 99 run fourth wicket partnership came to an end when James Taylor was caught behind off Ben Stokes for 37.
By the close play Notts were 231-4, with Lumb 104* and Chris Read 5*.
Speaking at the close of play, Head Coach Geoff Cook, said, “With three wickets falling in the first twenty minutes it was always going to be hard work after that. With the ball we probably didn’t bowl as well as we did yesterday, in terms of working as a seam bowling unit, having said that I don’t think we’ve had much luck today.
“Notts played some good cricket, we weren’t as sharp and resolute as we would have liked to have been and we’ve got some work to do tomorrow.”
