Chris Rushworth’s significant exploits during September have seen him handed a second straight Eden Mill Player of the Month award.
The 32-year-old’s 12-wicket performance against Sussex at Emirates Riverside left him as the outstanding candidate, a match in which Rushworth became just the fourth Durham player to surpass 400 first-class wickets for the Club.
He followed Graham Onions, Simon Brown & Steve Harmison past the mark when bowling Harry Finch shouldering arms, part of a spell of 8/51 in 13 overs.
It was his second best bowling figures after the memorable 9/52 against Northamptonshire in 2014 & set the wheels in motion for a sensational victory after being bowled out for 103 in the first innings.
The final four games of the Specsavers County Championship were fruitful for the pace bowler, bringing 20 wickets to round off a successful campaign.
As a result, Rushworth scooped no fewer than four awards at the Club’s End of Season awards, including the Player of the Year as voted for by members.
