Sam Conners signs two-year Durham deal

Durham Cricket are pleased to announce the signing of Sam Conners on a two-year deal.

The 25-year-old joins from Derbyshire and will link up with Ryan Campbell’s side ahead of the 2025 season, providing availability across all formats until at least the end of the 2026 season.

A right-arm seamer, Conners will bring further experience and depth to Durham’s red ball attack with 124 first-class wickets from 48 caps.

After breaking through Derbyshire’s Academy in 2019, Conners made his strongest impact in 2022 when he took 50 County Championship wickets including a career best of 5-51 against Leicestershire, earning him an appearance for England Lions.

His national Lions call up saw him feature against the South Africa men’s Test squad with the right-arm quick claiming figures of 4-25 in the second innings at Canterbury, while he was also a part of the Lions squad for their training camp in the United Arab Emirates in November.

The seamer also claimed best figures in both white ball formats in the 2022 season with a maiden List A five-for against Yorkshire and a T20 best of 3-25 against Birmingham Bears.

On joining Durham, Conners said: “I am really grateful and excited for the opportunity to join Durham and be a part of such an ambitious club.

“I’m at a part of my career where I want to play alongside and against some of the best players and challenge myself to get to that next level.

“I can’t wait to get going in the winter and I’m ready to contribute my all to this club.”

Director of Cricket, Marcus North said: “We’re extremely pleased to bring Sam to Durham.

“He is an extremely talented young bowler that will provide us with more versatility to our strong bowling attack across all formats.

“We look forward to supporting Sam in his development during this next stage of his career working closely with Graham Onions to reach his full potential.”
