Result: Derbyshire 2nd XI (305/5d & 122/5d) beat Durham 2nd XI (84/1d & 226; Yates 57; Milnes 5/37) by 117 runs
Durham lost out in a thrilling finale after setting up a run chase on the final day against Derbyshire at Belper Meadows.
An overnight declaration before the start of Day Three showed Durham’s intentions & Derbyshire added 122/5, leaving Neil Killeen’s side 344 to win off 75 overs.
The wickets were shared one apiece between James Weighell, Usman Arshad, Liam Trevaskis & Scott Steel, with Tom Milnes run out.
Lunch was called on 28/1 with Steel the man out, caught off ex-Durham man Gurjit Sandhu for 11.
But regular wickets after the break hampered Durham’s progress as they dropped to 132/7, with Brydon Carse’s 30 the highest score from the top six.
Bradley Yates & Arshad stalled the hosts’ momentum with a stand of 74 inside 15 overs as a draw looked possible.
Arshad then became the eighth wicket to fall & Josh Coughlin fell soon after as defeat looked a certainty.
There was another five overs of defiance between Yates & Harding before the former was the last wicket to fall on 57, bowled by Sandhu.

An overnight declaration by Durham has left a result possible after they closed Day Two trailing Derbyshire by 221 runs at Belper Meadows CC.
Following a completely washed out first day, Derbyshire were put into bat by Neil Killeen’s men & made 305/5 from 86 overs.
That left Durham 18 overs to bat & they advanced the score to 84/1, with Jack Burnham (40*) & Gareth Harte (23*) the unbeaten men overnight.
Having elected to field Durham got off to the perfect start as Graham Onions struck with the first ball, having Charlie McDonnell caught behind.
Usman Arshad followed up with the wicket of Akhil Patel before a 92-run stand between Hosein & Calum Brodrick.
Two wickets then fell in succession, Brodrick caught behind off Arshad before ex-Durham man Rammy Singh was run out by Burnham.
However, a 170-run stand between Hosein & Tom Milnes put the hosts back in control before the latter’s wicket to Onions prompted a declaration.
Durham lost Scott Steel early in the reply before a 64-run stand between Burnham & Harte, the former striking 4x4s & 2x6s in his 33-ball knock.
