Seconds halted by rain

The Second XI’s first friendly of 2018 was abandoned after 46 overs against Leicestershire at Brandon CC.

A strong batting line-up was slated to get some practice ahead of Friday’s Specsavers County Championship fixture against Northamptonshire at Wantage Road.

However, the visitors reached 254/3 before rain intervened & play was called off for the day.

Ryan Pringle took two of the three wickets to fall, while Josh Coughlin dismissed top-scorer Mark Pettini for 78.

The two sides will go head-to-head at Emirates Riverside starting tomorrow in a three-day friendly before rounding off their friendly action against Scotland next week, a match which has also been moved from Burnopfield to Emirates Riverside.
