Seconds Looking for Glory at Arundel

Durham will come up against Middlesex, Gloucestershire and Surrey who will all be battling it out for national bragging rights as champions in the Second XI T20 competition.

Durham have been in great form in the short format recording wins against Derbyshire, Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire and Lancashire to top the table in the northern sector and qualify for 2013 Finals Day.

In their last match the side needed to chase the runs set by Derbyshire in 12 overs to get their net run rate ahead of Lancashire on the points table and qualify for finals day.

Captain Usman Arshad took it upon himself to get his side there.  He hit a superb 79 not out off 36 balls, an innings which included 8 fours and 5 sixes. The last over Durham faced went for 25 with Arshad making 24 of these runs with 6,6,4,4,4.

Arshad has been in great touch this season and his Durham side looks poised for success with a good mix of young and experienced cricketers making the trip south.

Max Morley, Jamie Harrison and Ryan Buckley will add experience to a young Durham side with the three amongst the Durham Dynamos Friends Life t20 squad preparations this summer.

Durham commence Finals Day at 10.30am tomorrow with their first match against Middlesex.  Follow our Twitter page as scores are sent through from Arundel and we wish coach Ali Maiden and his side all the best.
