Sir Ian Botham sends best wishes before NatWest IT20

On the eve of England’s visit to Emirates Riverside, Durham County Cricket Club Chairman Sir Ian Botham has sent his best wishes to all of the players, staff and spectators looking forward to the big day.

Due to a prior charity commitment set up over 12 months ago for the Beefy Foundation, Sir Ian will not be in attendance for what would have been his first international as Chairman of Durham CCC.

Durham County Cricket Club has been preparing for this exciting fixture since it was announced almost a year ago and a lot of hard work has gone into ensuring that every seat in the ground is filled and the Club is excited to welcome over 13,000 spectators.

“I would have loved to have been at Durham for the England v West Indies NatWest International T20 but the event is in very capable hands,” Sir Ian said.

“I have a long standing previously commitment to a charity event that has raised over £200,000 for a fantastic cause and I need to honour that commitment. My best wishes are with everyone at Chester le Street and for a fantastic evening of International T20 cricket”.
