Sol Bell named in 14-man squad for Glamorgan finale

Durham Cricket head into the final game of the Specsavers County Championship season against Glamorgan hoping to secure a fourth place finish in Division Two.

Last week’s defeat at the hands of Northamptonshire knocked the Ds out of the promotion race – the visitors, however, are still in contention.

Lead Performance Coach James Franklin has named 18-year-old Sol Bell for the 14-man squad for the game, as well as recalling wicketkeeper-batsman Stuart Poynter.

Bell is coming off the back of a fine performance in the 2nd XI, scoring 109 in the second innings as Durham defeated their Yorkshire counterparts by 4 wickets.

In the bowling department Chris Rushworth will be hoping to to secure the six wickets he needs to reach 500 career first-class scalps.

The two sides last met in August 2018 at Sophia Garden where Durham secured an innings and 30 run victory, 69 from Alex Lees and 95 from Axar Patel the highlights with the bat, with Rushworth earning match figures of 8-64 in the comfortable win.

Squad vs Glamorgan (23-26 September)

Alex Lees, Cameron Steel, Angus Robson, BJ Watling, Sol Bell, Jack Burnham, Gareth Harte, Ned Eckersley (c, wk), Stuart Poynter, Ben Raine, Brydon Carse, Matt Salisbury, Nathan Rimmington, Chris Rushworth
