South Shields miss out, Tynemouth win County Playoff

Durham’s representatives in the Senior Indoor Six-a-Side County Playoffs South Shields missed out on qualifying further in the national competition after Northumberland’s Tynemouth Cricket Club prevailed in the game.

Result: Tynemouth CC (139/1) beat South Shields (137/5) by five wickets.

Tynemouth staged an impressive batting performance in the second innings to chase down the total with two overs to spare.

South Shields’ opening batsman Michael Dunn remained unbeaten on 46 to contribute to his team’s 137 total.

Despite the sufficient effort from South Shields, Northumberland’s batters were able to find regular deliveries, putting the side ahead of the required rate, with most batsmen contributing runs in the mid-20s.

Tynemouth reached the target with 13 balls in hand to qualify for the Regional Finals of the ECB Championship.
