South Shields Cricket Club won the Durham Cricket Board Senior Indoor 6-a-side Championship after bowling Gateshead Fell Cricket Club out for 101 in the final.
Result: South Shields CC (140/4) win against Gateshead Fell CC (101/6) by 39 runs.
As Durham’s winners, South Shields progress to the County Playoff to face winners of Northumberland’s competition Tynemouth Cricket Club.
In the final South Shields posted a strong total of 140 in their ten overs, aided by opening batter Michael Dunn who finished on 37 not out and Christopher Rainbow who contributed another 40 runs.
In response, Gateshead Fell were disallowed their full innings when the Tyneside bowlers managed to end the Fell’s momentum on 101 in 8.3 overs.
The final two qualified through to the decisive match after South Shields overcame Greenside Cricket Club and the Fell claimed the victory against Whickham Cricket Club in the semi-finals.
The County Playoff between South Shields and Tynemouth will take place on Sunday, 6 January 2019 from 10.00am at Emirates Riverside Indoor Cricket Centre, as the winners qualify for the Regional Finals of the ECB Championship.
