Durham County Cricket Club has launched a new initiative to find new fast bowlers throughout the North East
The SPEEDSTAR Challenge, which has been kindly sponsored by Sanctus Energy Procurement Analysis, will run throughout June and culminate in a final at Emirates Durham International Cricket Ground before Durham Dynamos last Friends Life t20 group game against Lancashire on July 8th.
The format of the challenge is for any fast bowlers in the four age categories (U15, 17, 19 & 23 ) to come along to one of their local heats and see how fast they can bowl in an over whilst under the speed camera. The quickest bowler from each category across the heats will be entered into the finals day along with one wild card entry for each age group for the fastest individual ball bowled.
On finals day the winners of the challenge for each age will be awarded a SPEEDSTAR trophy along with a Durham CCC membership for 2013 and offered the opportunity to train alongside Durham’s Academy throughout the winter.

Ashington CC – 9th June 9am
Sunderland CC – 14th June 5pm
Annfield Plain CC – 16th June 9am
Brandon CC – 23rd June 9am
Middlesbrough CC – 30th June 9am
