Squad unchanged for third straight game

Durham head coach Jom Lewis names an unchanged squad for the third match in a row as Durham face off against Sussex today at Emirates Riverside (10:30am start).

Lewis’s side earned a creditable draw at leaders Warwickshire last week, going toe-to-toe across the four days before hanging on in the final session to earn a draw.

They now have chance to further disrupt the race for promotion when they face-off against third place side Sussex, who are only five points adrift of Kent in second.

Durham currently lie in eighth position on 102 points but know a strong end to the season could see them finish with a top-half finish.

Gareth Harte & Nathan Rimmington were the squad players to miss out on last week’s XI, with the latter featuring in the Second XI’s tense Championship title win at Emirates Riverside.

Axar Patel will feature after his career-best seven-wicket haul at Edgbaston last week, though this will be his last game for the Club after being recalled by the BCCI for the Asia Cup.

Squad vs Sussex (10-13 September)

Paul Collingwood (c), Cameron Steel, Alex Lees, Will Smith, Graham Clark, Gareth Harte, Michael Richardson, Stuart Poynter (wk), Axar Patel, Nathan Rimmington, Barry McCarthy, Matt Salisbury, Chris Rushworth
