Stokes recalled to England squad

Durham all-rounder Ben Stokes has been recalled into the England squad for the Second Investec Test match against Pakistan.

The 25-year-old has sufficiently recovered from a knee injury sustained against Sri Lanka in May.

He returned for Durham as a batsman in the NatWest T20 Blast match against Yorkshire and struck 50 against Hampshire in a first-class outing.

Bowling duties resumed in the current Specsavers County Championship match against Lancashire, where he was watched by England selector James Whitaker over the first two days.

And his performances have been enough to earn a recall to the national setup for Friday’s Test at Emirates Old Trafford.

England are 1-0 down in the series after an exhilarating First Test at Lord’s finished in Pakistan’s favour with a 75-run victory.

James Anderson is included after his exertions against Durham at Southport this week.
